Stena Aortic Multi-Layer Flow Modulator
The Stena Aortic Multi-Layer Flow Modulator is an advanced endovascular device designed to treat complex aortic conditions such as thoracoabdominal aneurysms and dissections. It features a five-layer mesh structure made from superalloy biomedical wire, offering flexibility, conformability, and radial support. The device works by modulating blood flow within the aorta, promoting laminar flow and reducing wall stress, which helps stabilize the aneurysm sac and encourage thrombosis without obstructing vital branch arteries. It is compatible with a 0.035″ guidewire and delivered via an 18F to 20F catheter. The Stena modulator also includes radiopaque markers for enhanced visibility during fluoroscopy and ensures effective sealing at the landing zones to minimize endoleaks. It provides a promising alternative for high-risk patients unsuitable for traditional surgery, though its long-term effectiveness is still being evaluated through ongoing clinical trials.
